A Guide to the Perfect Gourmet Super Bowl Menu

In one of our earlier blogs we briefly touched on what it takes to throw the perfect Super Bowl party. Central to the perfect Super Bowl party, is the perfect menu. There is no need to settle for frozen pizza or mediocre carryout like everyone else.

One of our mantras here at Paper Eskimo is, “Go Gourmet!” The best part about gourmet is, it doesn’t have to mean more time, work and effort for you. What does “gourmet” really mean? A gourmet is someone who is a connoisseur of food. That sounds like you, right?

For this year’s Super Bowl, Go Gourmet! With this menu, you can embrace taste and quality without sacrificing your time or working yourself to the bone.

Crispy Baked Chicken Wings

Recipe

Nothing beats moist, tender, crispy, flavorful chicken wings on game day. Too often, when people make chickens wings they fry them until they are oily on the outside and dry on the inside. These baked alternative are not only much healthier than their fried counterparts; they are nearly guaranteed to come out perfect.

An entire serving of 7 wings contains under 400 calories, so you can eat plenty of these without feeling too guilty. The buffalo sauce and ginger-soy glaze can be made 5 days ahead of time to ease your workload on game day. These sound like a gourmet winner to us!

Potato, Greens, and Goat Cheese Quesadillas

Recipe

Quesadillas are another rather unhealthy game day/tailgating staple which the folks over at Bon Appétit have managed to give a health, gourmet spin. This simple recipe shows that a few ingredients can go a long way. The secret is the flavorful combination of salsa verde, chili powder, and goat cheese. Potatoes and mustard greens round out the quesadillas to give them some weight and some texture. Your guests may be surprised when you tell them you are serving quesadillas, and these hit the table, but we promise you, it will be a GOOD surprise.

Gourmet Nachos

Not everything on your Super Bowl menu has to be healthy. In fact, if it was, you may have a revolt on your hands. Nachos make perfect party food for a few reason: they are easy to share, everyone loves them, and they are easy to customize.

Nachos are a game day delight which people manage to mess up in rather startling ways! Avoid the classic mistakes by following Epicurious’ guide to building the ultimate gourmet nachos. You can find it be clicking here.

If you are looking for a specific recipe, try this one right here with grilled chicken and pinto beans. Nachos are a dish you can individualize and specialize in almost any way you like. Keep the Gourmet Nacho Guidelines in mind, but don’t be afraid to go off-book. If you come up with a particularly amazing creation, share it on Twitter with #papereskimo or post it on our Facebook wall.
