Dreaming up a boho party was insanely exciting! Any chance we get to style, we immediately think how to make it unique. So naturally, it was boho meets glam! We couldn’t think of a better way to dress up the girls and have them play in a whimsical, garden setting. To start we chose to embellish the theme with our beautiful Mint To Be party ware. The mint green with gold confetti brings in the ‘glam’ factor whilst mixing in soft hues of pink, purple and white to help create a modern bohemian look.
We brought out the DIY in us and created a romantic teepee made from lace and cotton. Using three bamboo lengths, purchased from our local hardware store, we tied them together with strong rope to form the tent shape. The fabric was draped around and sewn to secure it in place. The top of the tepee was enhanced with fresh flowers and vines. Once the theme look and feel was decided along with the colors, it was easy to imagine the cake and type of food to serve. A moist Lemon sponge was baked and frosted in mint green cream. To celebrate the art of dripping icing, we used a dark chocolate mix and topped it off with beautiful peonies and roses. Our new cake toppers in gold hearts completed the look by adding a dash of glitz and glam.
From simple vanilla cupcakes to a gourmet margherita pizza adorned with edible petals, the table was laden with delicious treats for the kids to enjoy. Keeping it simple is key as kids don’t generally need a buffet of different foods. Focus on one great main dish and 2-3 sweet varieties. Besides, birthday parties are those special occasions when kids get to have more than one treat. We used waffle cones lined and dipped in chocolate with gold sprinkles – turned upside down, they represented the teepee. We flagged them with the new cake toppers in gold.
Even a small drink station is more than substantial to keep the kids hydrated. We opted for fresh lemonade with a hint of pink grapefruit and a second mix of coconut water flavored with pineapple juice. A few slices of lime in each canister will keep the sweetness of the juice at a minimum. Top with crushed ice to keep the drinks cool throughout the party.
A fun addition to the food menu were our homemade popsicles. These delicious treats are not just for hot, summer days – believe us, the kids go mad for popsicles any time of the year. We continued the floral theme by nestling edible flower petals in a mixture of fresh lemonade. The kids were fascinated to eat real flowers!
For a little DIY craft time, we set up containers of accessories such as leather rope, feathers and beads for the girls to engage in and create their very own custom dream catchers. What’s a bohemian party without dream catchers, right?
Of course we wanted to thank our little guests for coming to the party so we arranged dream catcher kits in the Mint To Be Cupcake Gift Boxes to take home as party favors.
