Thanksgiving has been an American tradition for hundreds of years. It is a day focused on family. A time set aside to give thanks for the opportunities and blessings in our life. It is a time not just to eat, but to over eat. Thanksgiving dinner is a time to indulge in delicious dishes and timeless classics. When we are planning our Thanksgiving dinner, we try to always include these traditional and amazing items.
The Center Piece: Turkey is almost always the focus of Thanksgiving dinner. It can be prepared in a number of different ways, but oven roasted is the most common. There really is nothing more delicious than a slow roasted, juicy, flavorful turkey. White meat and dark meat are both fantastic. There is something for everyone.
Classic Thanksgiving Sides: You are not going to be serving turkey on its own. You need at least a few dishes to accompany it. Mash potatoes are a Thanksgiving necessity. They can be prepared in an almost endless variety of ways, so there will be something for every taste. Stuffing is another classic. When it is prepared inside the turkey, it is moist and flavorful. Hard to beat that. As for vegetables, carrots, green beans, and Brussel sprouts are all excellent and easy to prepare accompaniments.
The Most Important Part: What is the most important part of any meal? Dessert, obviously! And Thanksgiving desserts are fantastic. Usually the first thing that springs to mind is pumpkin pie. It should be on every Thanksgiving menu. Other great additions to the dessert menu are apple pie, and even rhubarb pie.
